Job Description
A vision care professional who sells, replaces and adjusts ophthalmic or corneal lenses (glasses and contact lenses) to people whose vision is deficient, according to the optometrist or ophthalmologist prescription. To achieve their goals, they advise the client, on the one hand, in the choice of frame considering their physiognomy, tastes, and prescription. On the other hand, they may recommend contact lenses with the best fit for the client’s eyes. The professional will explain to their client how to insert, remove, clean, disinfect, and store their lenses. They also ensure after-sale service by fitting eyeglasses or following up on contact lens adjustment. In the laboratory, the prescribing optician mounts lenses in frames, adjusts and repairs frames as required, replaces broken ophthalmic lenses, and may perform administrative tasks related to business management.
Requirements
Education: Diploma of College Studies in Visual Orthotics
Years of experience: 6 to 9 months experience
Languages required: Good knowledge of French – Good knowledge of English
Salary offered: Salary + commissions
Number of hours: 30 to 32 hours per week
