LE LUNETIER was founded in 1986 by optician and businessman Gaston Frenette. Gaston combined his knowledge, passion, and expertise to create a business that has been serving the needs of its customers and employees for over 35 years now. His motto: to offer products and service of the highest quality. A visionary, Mr. Frenette was the very first to introduce the “2 for 1” real deal.

The first LE LUNETIER store opened its doors on May 6, 1986, in Montreal on Papineau Street. Mr. Frenette was 28 years old at the time. This initial LE LUNETIER branch quickly gained popularity and credibility, leading to the opening of a second branch in Brossard just nine months later.

Between 1988 and 2011, twelve more LE LUNETIER branches joined the family, bringing the total to 14. The coveted brand, sought after by a multinational company in 2020, was finally acquired in April 2021 by two Quebecois eyewear enthusiasts with over 15 years of experience, Jason and Anthony Therrien.

I had my franchise in Belœil for over nine years. My brother also has an independent office on the North Shore. The franchisor prioritized Quebecers to maintain the local identity and to grow its baby through our vision, says Jason Therrien, the new franchisor and former owner of LE LUNETIER Beloeil.

Over the years, the LE LUNETIER team has grown. Thanks to the trust and hard work of optometrists, opticians, stylists, technicians, and receptionists, the brand now has 14 branches in the Greater Montreal area.

If LE LUNETIER has enjoyed a loyal clientele since its inception, it is because of its excellent service, competitive prices, and extensive selection of frames, but above all, because of the overall experience it provides. “We are prescription eyewear specialists and offer vision examinations and eye disease screening by optometrists”, explains Jason Therrien. As a result, the optometrist is able to prescribe appropriate treatments to correct customers’ vision problems, address eye emergencies, and treat them with a focus on recovery.

Eye exams, styling services, lens cutting, frame adjustments, and repairs… no need to go anywhere else, we take care of it all!

– Jason Therrien, co-owner and new franchisor of LE LUNETIER

When a customer has a new prescription in hand, they can change their glasses or contact lenses and receive assistance in choosing the right frame. Even better, they can leave with their new glasses on the same day! To enhance the overall experience for their customers, LE LUNETIER offers on-site lens cutting, depending on stock and employee availability in-store. “All of our branches are equipped with lens edgers. If we have the lenses with us, we can provide on-site lens cutting and avoid additional delays that can extend up to 14 days under normal circumstances”, adds the co-owner.
